Next stop(s)
There was a
time in my life when every time I bumped into this kind of quotes on the web, I
used to think: oh dear, all of these idealists that fool themselves with unrealistic
ideas – do something else with your life than just dreaming…
Then one day
I took a step back on my perception of such quotes. It was part of a decision
to try to be less stubborn (LOL - at least I am trying). I don’t recall what exactly triggered me, but since
then I started to consider the possibility to follow a similar dream. To be
honest, I would not even call it a dream anymore. It’s fully a project: you
need to plan, you need to put together funds, you need to consider the risks
and challenges you might have on the way, but when it comes to quality, you
will shortly realize it is probably one of the most meaningful projects of your
life.
Luckily enough, it was pretty easy
to engage with another stakeholder 😀
In late 2019, my boyfriend and I
made an important decision: quitting. Our financial stability, our cosy duvet,
our loyal coffee machine, our weekend routines, our people.
I’ve heard friends and relatives
calling us brave/crazy, but I am far from accepting these attributes for the
time being. We will set off tomorrow and this -1 day is already full of
emotions. We will be spending the next six months travelling in South East
Asia, yay! Our first stop is going to be the city of angels, great city of
immortals, magnificent city of the nine gems,
seat of the king, city of royal palaces, home of gods incarnate, erected by Vishvakarman
at Indra's
behest (yes – that’s the full name of the capital of Thailand). After a few days
in Bangkok and once jet lag will hopefully be behind us, we will hit the road
through Cambodia onto Vietnam. Do not ask me what will be our following stops
because we don’t know yet.
